Online Library - linking to, from Moodle: Linking to VLeBooks

How to create links in Moodle to resources from Newman University Library

How do I link to VLeBooks from Moodle?

Step 1

Search the library catalogue for the item you want to link to.

Step 2

Connect to the e-book.

Step 3

On the item detail page, right click on the URL address bar and select 'Copy' (see example below).

If you use the link from library catalogue then your students will not be able to access the books from off campus.

Step 4

Paste the link in the required destination e.g. Moodle. Don't paste the link in to MS Word as it won't work - if you need to paste it somewhere temporary, use Notepad.

The URL should look like this:

http://www.vlebooks.com/vleweb/Product/Index/53515?page=0

You can only link to an entire VLeBook - you cannot link to a specific page with the e-book.

When you click on the above link, you will need to then log in via OpenAthens. Use the Shibboleth login option then choose Newman University, then enter your Newman IT username and password when prompted.
