Using the library for professional and support staff

As a member of the professional and support staff of Newman University, you can use the full range of Library facilities.

You can:

  • attend any of our open workshops, using the workshop booking form to secure your place

  • borrow items from the Library

  • find what is in the Library’s collections by using our library catalogue which includes our print and e-books, plus journal articles

  • use the Online Library

  • visit other University libraries, or borrow from their library collections, by joining the Sconul Access scheme (subject to availability)

  • make a request to borrow a book or read a journal article that is not available in the Library, using our inter-library loans service

You need to register with us to borrow from the Library and to use some of our other services. Send us an email asking for a form to join the Library as a member of staff.

In most cases, you can freely use our Online Library to support your work and for your private research. However, you cannot use resources from the Online Library for any commercial purposes. If you are entitled to use our Law databases, they can only be used for academic study; you cannot use them for the business of the University.

Some resources you might find helpful include:

  • Reference material, such as Encyclopaedia Britannica

  • Collections of business articles, such as Business Source Premier

  • TV Broadcasts, using Box of Broadcasts

If you would like advice on finding or using resources in the Library, contact any of our Academic Service Librarians.
