You can request a renewal of an inter-library loan book by emailing us or visiting the Service Desk on the entrance level of the library during staffed hours.
We can’t guarantee to renew it for you as this depends on the library who lent the book to us. Be prepared to return it on the due date or even at short notice before the due date.
We charge you £5.00 each time you renew an inter-library loan.
Renewal charges are added to your library account after the renewal is confirmed by the lending library.
You are limited to 2 renewals for each inter-library loan.
It can take time to contact the lending library so to avoid overdue charges please give us as much notice as possible to arrange a renewal for you.
You cannot renew inter-library loans on the self-service kiosks or using My Account on the library catalogue.
We will email you when your inter-library loan book is available.
Some books are supplied on the condition that they are not taken out of the library and we will tell you this in the email we send when the item has arrived.
We issue books which can be loaned to you for 3 weeks unless the library lending it to us has set a shorter loan period.
Your inter-library loan can be recalled by the lending library at any time. If this happens we will email you and you will need to return it earlier than expected.
You need to return your inter-library loan to the Service Desk on the entrance level of the library during staffed hours, or if you can’t visit then, please put it into the returns box next to one of our self-service kiosks.
You will receive up to 2 email reminders before your inter-library loan is due to be returned.
We will email you if your inter-library loan becomes overdue.
