Welcome to Birmingham Newman University! This guide will tell you important information about using the library.

The library is free for all students to use. The only time you will have to pay to use the library is if you use our laptop service or inter-library loans service and return the items late, or if you lose a book. To top up your printer credit, visit the IT Service Desk during staffed hours.

You can search for books and journal articles using our search tool, Library Search. If you wish to use physical books, you should find them on the shelves by yourself, and check them out to your library account. Library staff can help you during staffed hours and will show you how to use our self-service kiosks.

Library staff can help you find study resources and provide help with your referencing. The library building is also a great place to study.

For more specialised library support:

• Book onto a library workshop to learn skills like searching and referencing. Workshops are available in-person and online via Teams.
• Book a one-to-one appointment with a librarian. Each subject has a specialist librarian to help you find relevant resources and support with referencing.
