Welcome to Birmingham Newman University Library

We are located in the St. Chad building, off the main atrium. The Library is accessible from level 1 (the same level as the main Univeristy reception). You can access all levels of the Library using a lift located next to the main stairs.

We offer an extensive collection of printed books, journals, artefacts and multimedia materials for use by our members. We also manage and make available millions of digital resources that are available online to our registered students and staff.

Getting started in the Library

If you are new to Birmingham Newman Library, or even just want a refresher on the main Library systems, you will find video guides and demonstrations, as well as helpsheets, on our Library Induction pages.

Library Search is your gateway to discovering these resources. You can access Library Search from the Library homepage. For information about other services and facilities the Library offers, please use the menu on the left-hand side.

Library opening hours

Birmingham Newman University Library is open every day, including most Bank Holidays, but excluding days when the University campus as a whole is closed.

Access for visitors and those wishing to join the Library as external members or as part of the Sconul Access scheme is only available during staffed hours. Outside of staffed hours, Library members will need their Birmingham Newman ID or membership card to access the Library.

Opening times for this week are displayed below.

Policies and Regulations
